Our family is descended from Johannes Rall / Rhal (d 1774), who arrived in Charleston, SC in 1749 aboard Capt. Arthur's ship. He was granted land in the forks of the Broad & Saluda Rivers near Lexington, SC in 1752.
Johannes son, Jacob Rawl, Sr. (d ca.1800), married Catharine Price (b 1756, d 3 Jul 1838). They had six children, Jacob Rawl, Jr., George, Daniel, Christian, Frederic and Catharine.
Jacob Rawl, Jr. (b 1776, d 30 Dec 1853) married Elizabeth Gartman (b 1783, d 11 Sept 1837) Their children were John Rawl, Samuel, Joseph, Daniel, William, David, Jesse, Celia, Mary, Rebecca, Barbara.
John Rawl (b 26 Dec 1800, d 25 Jan 1892) married Margaret Elizabeth Austin (b 18 Mar 1806, m 14 Mar 1822, d 6 Nov 1858). They had twelve children, George Bynum Rawl, Harret, Benjamin, Martha, Rebecca, Frances, Simeon, Jacob, Elijah, Mary Jane, Philip, John.
